Use of the term"down state" to describe Southern Illinois
Lately it seems that our politicians have adopted the term "down state" to describe southern Illinois. What a negative label! Why do they not just say southern Illinois? Does the southern part of the state, which has been invisible to most government agencies north of 64, not deserve to be referred to consistently by the same name? We've been called Egypt, Little Egypt, Southern Illinois and not DOWN STATE!!! The area south of 64 is southern Illinois and needs to be called such!

Well I am off of facebook for a month. I needed to take a break because it was taking too much of my time and I felt that fb was using my information no matter how I blocked the use of my content. Another reason is I have extremely strong feelings about the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. I am a complete supporter of ACA and absolutely do not comprehend why others are not in support of affordable health care for all. I decided I didn't want to get into a negative discussion on fb with those that do not believe as I do.
When I was in grad school and raising my son health care was a huge issue. I was 48 yoa in 1997. My income was very low and we could have had food stamps, section 8 etc. I chose not to apply for assistance but would have applied for health care if available at a reasonable cost. Our income was above the $15,000 a year mark but under 23,000. I had to take student loans in order to support us and attend school. And in attending school I was able to purchase major medical with a $4000 deductible. So if you are a competent person you see the problem. I support ACA from first hand experience. As a result, I cannot understand why someone would not want a national health care program.
